As some of you may know, my name is Ashley Schultz. I wish I could say I was new to this whole blogging thing but the truth is, I have had one before. I decided to veer away from it to start a more personal blog.
I grew up in a small town (Boone) until I was 16 then my mom moved us to a bigger town (Ames) and that was one of the best things that has ever happened in my life. At the time, I wasn't sure it was a wonderful idea but if it wasn't for that move, I wouldn't be where I am today. After I graduated from high school I started working at a daycare. It was kind of a random job at first, even though I have been around kids my whole life, but now I know God had a plan for me this whole time. I worked at a place called The Play Den and was there for about two years when I left to work for my boss at her in-home daycare. While I was there, I left for a month to live in Connecticut with a family that I had babysat for a long time. It was one of the best experiences of my life. When I came back, I returned to the in-home and then moved to daycare in town that she had opened called The Caterpillar Clubhouse. I was there for another 2 years when I left for the summer to be a nanny in Kansas, which was a great experience. When I returned from Kansas, I started at a new daycare called The LilyPad and I have been there ever since. This last summer, I left to nanny for the Wakefield family of Roland and I am currently living with them but back at the LilyPad. Children are truly my passion and I look forward to going to work and babysitting regularly. (Whew, that is a lot of experience with children!)
More importantly, I am the oldest of 4 children. I have a sister named Emily who is 22, lives in Ames with my mom, and she is my absolute best friend. We fight like sisters, definitely, but we talk like we are best friends. I don't know what I would do without her. I also have twin brother and sister who are 19, named Maddie and Nic. Maddie lives in Kansas with her long term boyfriend Ethan and I pray daily that Ethan can become part of our family. (We all know that they will marry but it's just about being patient.) Nic lives in ames as well with some of his friends. I am so thankful for each and every one of my siblings. We are all such different people but we make the perfect little family. My parents are divorced but my mom is the best mom/dad in the world. I don't know many other people that could raise 4 kids on their own, go to school full time and work to provide for our family. She is my rock and God knew exactly what he was doing when he made her. I hope to be as strong as her someday.
I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl. No, I don't have a real baby, but I have the world's greatest golden retriever. Her name is Penny and she is 4. She has brought me so much happiness in the time that I have had her that I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her. She is so smart, cuddly, loving, and knows just what to do to brighten your day. Sometimes it's hard for me to come to the realization that she is just a dog, she's so humanlike..
Last but most certainly not least, I have the world's greatest boyfriend. His name is Zach and he is absolutely amazing. We got set up on a blind date by his sister last November and have been talking ever since. It only took him 3 months to ask me to be his girlfriend, but that's okay. :) I will write another blog about how we met so I can give all the details. Zach is just what my heart needed. Ever since I was a little girl, I prayed that God would bring a man into my life that I could fall head over heels for and Zach is that man. He couldn't be more perfect! This Saturday we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary and I couldn't be more excited. He is truly a dream come true!
Anyways, I am excited to blog more and share more of my life with you. I can't promise that I will be the best blogger out there or my posts will be anything that you are interested in, but I am going to write anyways!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day! :) xoxo
